Without much corporate specific news, it seems lately that the news that dominate the Yahoo! scene are that of cooperation with other companies in the industry.
Yesterday, I reported about Yahoo! Inc cooperation with Microsoft Corp and AOL (among others), in an effort to combat child pornography.
Today, the news came out that last week Yahoo! Inc, Google, Amazon.com, AOL all filed a brief in the U.S. district court case in Chicago, saying a ruling against Craigslist could have "extremely negative implications" for the growth of online services.
Craigslist, an online local communities and classified website, is being sued under federal housing discrimination law for allowing users to post discriminatory ads such as seeking certain types of roommates and tenants such as asking for certain religion, race or sexual preference. According to Goldman's Technology & Marketing Law Blog, however, print and online publications are treated differently under the law, which could make the case for Craigslist.
And lest we forget, of course, the combined lobbying by Internet companies regarding Net Neutrality. Today the senate panel rejected Kerry's amendment in the case.
Yahoo! Inc shares gained 41 cents (1.30%) today to close at $31.92.
